It is officially the end of the school year. This is the end of my 9th year in my current school district and the students I have that are graduating have been with me since 7th grade. It is bittersweet to see them graduate and go on. I have had the pleasure of watching them mature and grow into young adults. I am excited for their futures and yet I have seen these young people 173 days of every year for the past 6 years and have come to know them well. Some of them are going on to school. Others are going on to find jobs. Whether they are staying or going, they are all growing. It is a good reminder that an ending is also the beginning of something new and I look forward to meeting a new group of students and watching them grow.
So what am I going to grow at, what is my something new? It is a great question of which I currently do not have an answer. I hope to spend my summer reading and working on being the best teacher I can be. I want to change things up in my classroom and district. I now have a degree that has Leadership in it and I hope to become a better leader. I want to be proud of myself and the things I can accomplish.
Just as my goals for my students are to achieve their goals and strive for the best in their lives, I too want to achieve my goals and strive for the best life for me.
Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart. ~Kongz
